Construct the Moment
The project first started in groups decided which design would be carried forward and constructed. All the designs were of a high standard but due to the materials limited we had to choose the design most achievable and set a challenge. We decided to go with Chrissies design as we liked the vivid colours and the interesting floor pattern. As a group we discussed how to use the materials provided and also what we’d need to source in props to make the overall set as accurate to the model as possible. We made sure that all the measurements would fit into our material budget by using CAD.

When constructing the set I felt the most challenging task was building the curved wall. Not only was it technically challenging it was also very time consuming and we had to stick to a strict time plan to make sure we’d complete all the paint finishing. We asked for professional advise on how to make formers and curve the sheet without it cracking. As a group we all helped to construct the wall as it was so large, everyone had a chance to use all the tools and gain confidence with the router and jigsaw. Although when we had the bulk of the wall completed the group spilt into half to construct the canvas flats. We were able to pair off to paint different sections; the floor, the curved wall, the canvas flats and the plinth this was very time efficient. We all learnt new painting skills from Sandra - A professional Scenic Artist.

we animated our set very well. I feel the lighting changed the set completely and brought the club atmosphere to life . We dressed the set with recycled bottles and borrowed metal stands and spot lights to give the illusion of a lighting rig.
